Pre-Bar Mitzvah Updates:
We are so excited to celebrate Lev's bar mitzvah celebration with you on Saturday!
On Saturday night at the celebration, we will open up the microphone for people to offer toasts, if there is any tribute or special memory you'd like to share about Lev.
Don't forget to wear your dancing shoes on Saturday evening! We'll have music and dance, and maybe even some Israeli folk dancing.
A few guests have asked about gifts for Lev. He is not expecting these. He has, however, said that anyone who wishes to may consider making a contribution to one of three organisations: the Israeli emergency response Magen David Adom, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, or our synagogue's heritage restoration project.
And finally, there is parking directly at the Victoria Scottish Community Centre, but if their lot happens to fill they have an agreement with Canadian Tire, across the street, to use their parking lot.
Until soon!
Shabbat services and the bar mitzvah will be held at the historic Congregation Emanu-El, 1461 Blanshard St., Victoria, BC. The celebration on Saturday night will be held at the newly built Victoria Scottish Community Centre, 1803 Admirals Rd.
Lev has selected the Israeli medical emergency service Magen David Adom (US; Canada) as well as the corresponding Palestine Red Crescent Society (international) as his charities of choice, for those who may wish to donate in his honour.
